Anise Cookies

This is an old family favorite around Christmas time, enjoy!
Ingredients:
5 c. flour
10 tsp. baking powder
1 c. sugar
5 eggs
1 1/2 sticks of butter or margarine
1 bottle anise extract
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In large bowl put flour and baking powder. In another bowl whip sugar and eggs. Add to flour mixture then add butter and anise. Mix well. Put on floured board and make a big ball. Take a handful of dough and roll to thickness desired about 4 to 5 inches long. Cut into rounds. Bake 12 to 15 min. or until brown.
Icing...
Ingredients:
1/2 box confectioners’ sugar
1/2 stick melted butter
1/2 bottle anise extract
Instructions:
Dip or spread each cookie with icing and let dry. These can be frozen. You can also use colored sugars for decorations, or color dough with food coloring.
